As we enter a new financial year, we thought we’d dive deeper into our key performance indicators (KPI) metrics to explain how we measure our impact on the UK offshore wind sector. Our success is monitored against four key performance indicators that measure the value the offshore wind supply chain brings to the UK economy: jobs, turnover, exports and intellectual property.
As of April 2024, we can report the following…
Jobs
We’re delighted to report that for the first time, our data indicates that companies supported by OWGP have increased their headcount by over 1,000 in Offshore Wind since embarking on our programmes. This significant milestone highlights the impact of our support.
Turnover
Companies participating in OWGP programmes have reported a £220m increase in turnover in offshore wind since starting their work with us. That’s an extra £220m in green economic growth across the country.
Exports
OWGP participating companies have recorded £96m in-year exports. The offshore wind sector is global – so this figure reflects the fact that many of our supported companies have been taking their expertise and technologies into emerging offshore wind markets too, such as the USA, Taiwan and Japan.
Intellectual property
147 new products and services have been brought into the offshore wind sector by companies working with OWGP. These solutions are helping to solve real challenges faced across the lifecycle of offshore wind farms.
