Solutions for the offshore wind industry
Cooper & Turner manufacture and supply high-quality safety-critical fasteners capable of operating in some of nature’s most hostile environments.
They offer standard and bespoke fasteners across all wind turbines areas such as nacelles, blade to hub, foundation fixings, tower construction and transition bolts and studs.
With more than 100 years of acquired knowledge and experience in bolt manufacturing, many of the world’s leading manufacturers in offshore and onshore wind trust Cooper & Turner with their fastener requirements.
A closer look at preparing for future growth and optimising production
Cooper & Turner sought to strengthen their position and prepare for significant growth within the offshore wind sector. With ambitious plans to scale operational output from their Sheffield facility and seize emerging opportunities, the company submitted an expression of interest to participate in the OWGP Sprints programme.
During participation in this programme, Cooper & Turner secured a Development Grant through OWGP to increase capacity and explore new technologies to optimise their production lines and streamline their process.
Impact of the support
Created 10 new jobs in offshore wind
Doubled turnover in just one year.
Increased exports by £3m.

Before
Prior to engaging with OWGP, Cooper & Turner had established itself as a trusted supplier in the offshore wind sector, providing high-quality fasteners to leading OEMs and gearing up for significant growth. As leadership focus shifted from the Sheffield facility to group level, day-to-day management was handed to a new generation of leaders.
Cooper & Turner sought business transformation support through the OWGP Sprints programme, to adopt a more process- and data-driven approach, define a long-term vision for the facility, develop the leadership skills needed to support expansion, strengthen management capability and enable efficient, cost-effective innovation.
During
Cooper & Turner began their engagement with the OWGP SPRINTS programme in December 2023. Delivered in partnership with Sharing in Growth, the programme provided focused, high-impact support to accelerate business transformation and strengthen their position in the offshore wind sector.
The intervention centred on leadership development and innovation. Emerging leaders received training in self-awareness, motivation, visual management, data-driven decision-making, and financial literacy. In parallel, the team developed a technology roadmap and formalised a New Product Introduction (NPI) process, enabling more efficient and cost-effective product launches.
Participation in this programme laid the groundwork for Cooper & Turner to apply for a Development Grant which would enable them to enhance future capability at their Shefield facility. This project formed one part of Cooper & Turners ongoing £2m full factory reconfiguration.
After
The OWGP Sprints programme helped lay a strong foundation for Cooper & Turner, resulting in more capable leadership, streamlined innovation processes, and a scalable business model aligned with the offshore wind sector’s evolving demands.
The financial support provided by OWGP through the Developmnent Grant enabled Cooper & Turner to increase capacity, adapt production and adopt new technologies to automate and optimise the process to produce larger diameter fasteners and mitigate manual handling concerns.
Since completing the programme, the company has achieved unprecedented growth, creating 10 new jobs in offshore wind, doubling turnover and increasing exports by £3 million, all within 1 year of participation.
“Cooper and Turner began to engage with OWGP just over 2 years ago and the interaction has been nothing but positive. Working together has enabled Cooper and Turner to benefit from the Sprints programme which encompassed onsite support and offsite training programs with many of the Cooper and Turner employees who participated commenting that it was the most enjoyable and engaging course they had ever attended. The grant funding we received enabled Cooper and Turner to push ahead with a new automated manufacturing cell which is un-matched within the industry. I cannot recommend the team at OWGP highly enough, all of whom I have found to be engaging, helpful and genuinely interested and I look forward to working with them further.“
