Offshore Wind Growth Partnership is seeking two independent non-executive directors

Do you have a passion for improving competitiveness of UK supply chains? Would you like to play a crucial role in developing the UK’s offshore wind sector? Do you bring deep expertise in supply chain or finance and want to help shape the next phase of OWGP’s impact?

Offshore Wind Growth Partnership is recruiting two independent directors to join its Board from 1 July 2026. We are seeking one director with specific skills and experience in supply chains, and one director with a strong finance background to support financial governance as OWGP enters its next phase. The Board has an exciting mandate to take OWGP forward to its next phase of growth.

Why offshore wind?

Offshore wind will be the backbone of a clean, reliable, affordable energy system in the UK. The sector continues to scale rapidly, while navigating inflationary pressures, evolving auction and contracting frameworks, and the need to strengthen supply chain resilience and delivery capability.

Offshore wind provides exciting growth opportunities for UK supply chain companies within the domestic market and overseas. In addition to generating economic value and skilled jobs, growing UK’s leading position in offshore wind further will help ensure energy security, and enable the UK to decarbonise its power system.

Offshore Wind Growth Partnership

OWGP was established in 2019 to:

  • support the growth of offshore wind supply chain in the United Kingdom
  • deliver increased supply chain productivity, competitiveness and export capability
  • facilitate new innovations and development of intellectual property
  • encourage UK-based businesses with transferable capabilities to enter the offshore wind sector
  • cooperate with other key stakeholders to advance cross-sector engagement
  • promote greater collaboration in the offshore wind sector within the UK and worldwide

OWGP’s core funding is provided by private offshore wind developers, represented through Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC).

Since its inception, OWGP has awarded £26.8 million to over 400 projects. Our supported companies are working towards their 2030 ambitions, which add up to more than £3 billion in increased turnover and 8,500 additional jobs.

Against the backdrop of global growth and already stretched supply chains, OWGP has been designated as the delivery body for the industry’s Industrial Growth Plan, with its activities due to significantly increase in its scale and impact. OWGP continues to evolve its portfolio of interventions – spanning capability, productivity, investment readiness and manufacturing capacity – working with industry and government to help unlock domestic value and strengthen UK competitiveness.

OWGP promotes collaboration within the industry and works closely with a large number of stakeholders such as industry (developers and supply chain), government (including devolved administrations), OWIC, SOWEC, DESNZ, DBT, TCE, CES, ORE Catapult, trade bodies, other funding organisations such as UKIB, SNIB and UKEF, and others e.g., local enterprise partnerships, offshore wind clusters and regional agencies.

Governance

OWGP is set up as an independent, not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. The Board is responsible for review and approval of the work programme and budgets proposed by the Programme Director, and generally overseeing that OWGP’s activities are performed in accordance with its plans and objectives.

The current Board composition is as follows:

  • 6 independent directors
  • 1 director appointed by ORE Catapult
  • 1 director appointed by RenewableUK
  • 1 OWGP Programme Director (executive member – leads the OWGP delivery team)

In addition to the above members, a representative from Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) and a representative from OWIC OWGP Reference Group may attend Board meetings as observers.

Board members are appointed for a three-year term with a possibility of an extension of up to three further years at the discretion of the Board. This advert is for two independent directors to join the Board from 1 July 2026: one appointment focused on Supply Chain expertise and one appointment focused on Finance/financial governance expertise. One of the existing independent directors will step down at that time.

The Role

Board members have an opportunity to shape the next phase of OWGP’s growth journey. As part of the role, the new independent directors will be expected to:

  • review the strategy set out by the OWGP management team,
  • support the Programme Director and OWGP staff to ensure effective delivery,
  • provide appropriate oversight and constructive challenge across strategy, delivery, risk and performance,
  • occasionally attend OWGP events and supplier visits, and
  • act as an ambassador for OWGP and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • For the Supply Chain NED: bring deep practical insight into supply chain capability, productivity, contracting and delivery; and help OWGP shape interventions that strengthen UK supply chain resilience and competitiveness.
  • For the Finance NED: establish and chair OWGP’s finance and audit committee, and support robust financial governance, including scrutiny of budgets, management information, controls, risk, and value-for-money across OWGP’s programme portfolio.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with experience relevant to OWGP’s mission and a passion to improve UK’s competitiveness in the global offshore wind market. We welcome applications for either of the two NED roles.

Eligible candidates are expected to demonstrate:

  • Up to date offshore wind supply chain knowledge or closely related energy/industrial sectors with clear transferability
  • Senior management experience
  • A proven track record of successful leadership and governance
  • An ability to develop strategic relationships with industry and government
  • Strong understanding of enterprise support landscapes
  • Ability to operate effectively as an independent non-executive, including appropriate challenge, sound judgement and integrity.

We recognise that each candidate will have a unique set of skills and experiences and can contribute to OWGP in different ways. Below, we have included a non-exclusive list of skills eligible candidates may possess. Please indicate clearly in your application whether you are applying for the Supply Chain NED role or the Finance NED role.

  • Supply Chain Non-Executive Director – desirable experience: Manufacturing, operations and industrialisation; supply chain development, productivity improvement and capability building; contracting and commercial models; supplier qualification and performance management; ports/logistics/heavy lift/marine operations; and/or scaling SME capability into regulated supply chains.
  • Finance Non-Executive Director – desirable experience: Finance leadership (e.g., CFO/FD), audit and risk, financial governance in a not-for-profit or public/private partnership context, budgeting and management information, controls and assurance, and value-for-money assessment across portfolios/programmes.

We are looking for candidates who do not have conflicts of interest in terms of potential to benefit from OWGP support.  Employees of companies that are members of the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) are not eligible because of potential conflicts of interest.  Employees of government organisations that are connected to the offshore wind sector are also not eligible to avoid subsidy control implications.

OWGP values Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace. We believe diversity of our people is key to getting a range of ideas, points of view and different perspectives that ultimately ensures our success as an organisation. In addition to the skills listed above, the Nominations Committee will assess how each proposed candidate may enhance the current mix of skills and backgrounds present in the OWGP Board.

Remuneration and time commitment

Approximately 3 days per quarter which includes attendance at five annual board meetings held at various locations across the UK, ad hoc representation of OWGP at industry events and Ministerial meetings, and an expectation to take responsibility for sponsoring one or more high level workstreams. Remuneration will be £8,000 per year plus travel expenses. If appointed, role allocation to specific committees/workstreams will be agreed based on skills and Board needs.

How to apply

Please send your CV and a covering letter of no more than two pages outlining how you meet the key elements of the role specification to emma.lewis@owgp.org.uk by 29th May 2026.

About the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership

The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership is the UK’s flagship supply chain growth funding and business support organisation dedicated to offshore wind.

Our mission is to accelerate development of the UK’s offshore wind supply chain.

OWGP was established under the 2019 Sector Deal by the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) as part of its mandate to foster growth within the offshore wind sector.

OWGP operates as an independent, not-for-profit organisation to provide support to UK-based supply chain companies, helping to generate know-how, economic value, highly skilled jobs, and export income for UK businesses.

Funding for OWGP’s activities comes from OWIC’s private members.

In June 2025, OWGP assumed the role of the Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan Delivery Body (“IGP Delivery Body”). The IGP Delivery Body’s role and objectives are described in the Industrial Growth Plan (IGP), published in April 2024, available on the OWIC website.
