The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) has appointed Jane Cooper as a non-independent director to its board.
Jane recently assumed the role of Deputy CEO at RenewableUK and interim CEO. She joined the trade association in 2022 as Director of Offshore Wind.
Jane’s tenure in the offshore wind sector has been defined by significant achievements, including her instrumental role in forging landmark partnerships between industry and government, such as the 2019 Offshore Wind Sector Deal and the establishment of the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership when she was Director of Regulatory and External Affairs at Ørsted before moving to RenewableUK.
Jane replaces outgoing board member Dan McGrail, who has stepped into the role of interim CEO of Great British Energy.
OWGP Programme Director, Anil Sayhan, said:
“We sincerely appreciate Dan McGrail’s invaluable leadership and guidance during his tenure on the board. We wish him every success in his new role.
At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Jane Cooper, whose deep expertise in offshore wind will be instrumental in advancing OWGP’s mission. Jane has already played a key role in defining OWGP’s evolution to assume the Industrial Growth Plan (IGP) Delivery Body role, and we look forward to working closely with her as we transition into this new phase.”
OWGP Chair, Tim Pick, added:
“We are thrilled to have Jane join the OWGP Board at such a pivotal time. As OWGP takes on the role of Industrial Growth Plan Delivery Body, it will act as a central coordinator, aligning efforts across industry to drive collaboration and supply chain growth. Jane’s experience in fostering strong partnerships between government and industry will prove invaluable as we deliver on this mission.”
Jane Cooper, Deputy CEO of RenewableUK, commented:
“I’m delighted to join the OWGP Board as it takes on the crucial task of overseeing the delivery of the Industrial Growth Plan for offshore wind. This sector has the potential to generate significant economic growth for the UK, building on our global lead in this key technology which is already playing a central role in the Government’s clean power mission.
“Funding provided by offshore wind developers is helping the OWGP to support a diverse range of innovative offshore wind supply chain companies which are creating thousands of high-quality jobs, as well as unlocking billions in private investment in new manufacturing facilities throughout the UK”.
In December 2024, OWGP was appointed as the IGP Delivery Body and is currently transitioning to take on this role while continuing its mission to support the growth of the UK’s offshore wind supply chain.
In its new capacity, OWGP will act as the vehicle that coordinates execution of the plan, and will facilitate strategic alignment across industry, governments and other key stakeholders. It will oversee the implementation of the Growth Plan, ensuring investments are impactful, monitoring and reporting on its progress, and regularly refreshing the Plan to meet the industry’s evolving needs.
